NEW HARTFORD PARKS
Chapin Park
Chapin Park is located between Route 44 and Church Street in Pine Meadow. This small park offers a beautiful setting for picnics in the warm weather and ice-skating in the winter.
Callahan Park
Callahan Park is located downtown on the corner of Route 219 and Cottage Street. Beautifully located along the Farmington River, this scenic park is a great place to fish, play basketball, tennis, or just relax while your children play.
Brown's Corner
Brown's Corner is located on Steele Road in New Hartford. It is home to our youth sports fields.
New Hartford Youth Baseball, New Hartford Youth Soccer and New Hartford Football all currently share this facility. With careful scheduling and cooperation, all involved have been able to provide recreational sports for our town's children. Brown's Corner is now being used at a capacity that far exceeds its original plans. Ongoing work is being performed to allow for additional parking and easier access. Open discussions are being held, and plans made, to deal with the future recreational needs of the community.
This area is also available to all New Hartford residents to enjoy.
Brodie Park
Brodie Park is located on the corner of West Hill and Niles Roads.
On the lakeside there are 50 acres, which are available to a variety of activities. During the summer months, the Recreation Department operates Brodie Beach at West Hill Pond. The Pond has one of the highest water ratings in the State of Connecticut. It is fed from a deep aquifer and the surrounding area. This body of water stays cold year round and makes for a refreshing place to swim. You can jump into the water to cool off, get some exercise with a refreshing swim, sit on the beach and just relax, or picnic in the park. Parking at the beach area requires a beach-parking pass. You can purchase a pass at the beach. Spaces are also available for rent for either canoe storage or boat moorings. This side of the park is also home of our beautiful playground, which was established by Friends of Brodie. You can also hit the courts! Brodie has 2 clay tennis courts and a new 4-hoop basketball court waiting for you to enjoy. In the wintertime people enjoy sledding and cross-country skiing.
Across the road there are an additional 150 acres, which are a part of our beautiful park. You can hike, horseback ride, or take a leisurely stroll. The Franklin P. Kearney Conservation Trail was established in 1988. The trail starts on West Hill Road across from the "Brodie House" at the corner of West Hill Road and Niles Road.
When you are at the park, please drive carefully and slowly. Watch out for children and adults at play. Please feel free to drop by the Recreation Office to inquire about programs or get information on the Park.
