A Message from Recreation Soccer

The recreation soccer board for New Hartford fall soccer has been hard at work since April to make the fall program as enjoyable as ever.  We all ready have 22 teams in the four divisions (K-1) (2-3) (4-5) and (6-7-8). New Hartford has 230 aspiring student soccer athletes from first to eighth grade.  We will play at Browns Corner for 9 Saturdays starting Sept. 6 and ending Nov. 8. There will be no games Columbus Day weekend.

Recreation Soccer would like to thank the town crew and especially New Hartford Baseball for the continued great maintenance of Browns Corner this spring and early summer. This maintenance and the small upgrades made by the sport leagues that use the facility will keep New Hartford's playing fields among the best in the Northwest Corner.

A Message from New Hartford Basketball

Momentum and enthusiasm for Basketball in New Hartford continues, which is great to see.

The New Hartford/Regional 7th/8th Grade Travel Team was the dominate Team in the Region this past year, finishing as Route 44 League Champions with an undefeated 19 -0 record in the League (and 33-3 overall).

This group continued in AAU play this Spring, and fared well. This Summer the Team also captured the Championship in the U-14 Division of the Torrington Summer League, finishing with an impressive 14-0 record.

Meanwhile, interest and enthusiasm continues to abound at all age levels, spearheaded by Lou Castellani, who has done a great job with the younger groups.

Many of the New Hartford Youth also participated in the Highlander Basketball Camp this Summer run by Northwestern Regional 7 Varsity Coach Doug Sebach and assisted by, among others, Regional Assistants Jared Stotler and the undersigned, and the Camp went very well.

In addition to being a great sport to play, Basketball is a great teacher certain of life=s very important principles, including teamwork, comraderie, selflessness, discipline and perseverance.

It is great to see Basketball continuing to flourish in New Hartford, and I am so pleased to be a part of it.
